Controlling Condensing Boilers & Water Heaters (1 PDH)
February 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
FreeDate: February 7, 2025
Time: 12 PM – 1 PM
Location: Virtual
PDH: 1.0 PDH
Trainer: Robert Barrett
This presentation looks at the efficiency curves of condensing boilers and compares these curves to NYC weather bin data to determine the efficiency of a condensing boiler over a heating season when it is designed for non-condensing design temperatures of 180F-160F.
Boiler outside air reset control savings are compared to pump VFD savings; control options are discussed. Also, water heater piping design is demonstrated to have a large impact on domestic hot water heater efficiency. Some Lochinvar products are discussed along the way.
Takeaway:
- Understand what causes a boiler to condense and how to optimize this
- Detailed review of condensing boiler efficiency curves as they relate to boiler LWT-reset and NYC weather data
- Compare the savings associated with boiler LWT reset versus the savings associated with constant LWT and variable speed pumping.
- Discover how to make every DHW application operate in condensing mode
- Understand the benefits of applying a front-end lo
