Balancing Fundamentals (1 PDH)
February 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
FreeDate: February 14, 2025
Time: 12 pm – 1 pm
Location: Virtual
PDH: 1.0 PDH
Trainer: Chris Abbott
This presentation provides a history of balancing, discussing fundamentals such as Cv value, what it is, and why it is important. Examples of unbalanced circuits and resulting overflows are shown. Pressure independent balancing is explained and current PICV technology is reviewed discussing the many benefits offered by these improved devices. Traditional VFD operation is explained and the newer “sensorless” VFD technology is discussed and demystified.
Takeaway:
- Learn about the evolution of balancing valves
- Understand why balancing is important and how it is accomplished in the field.
- Be comfortable using Cv values to determine pressure losses at alternate flows
- Learn about the newest balancing technology
- Introduction of “sensorless” VFD technology that uses software and motor current sensing technology to eliminate the need for a remote pressure differential sensor to control the VFD
Who should attend: HVAC & plumbing design engineers
