It was chosen to provide a sense of reserve and dignity much like the stately limestone buildings that adorn Fifth Avenue. As the stone climbs upward, it slowly gives way to wider and wider panes of glass until crescendoing in what will be a nearly translucent glass crown. German in origin, the limestone was specifically chosen because it could withstand the area’s harsh winters, allowing for the perfect marriage of utility and aesthetics, a theme that courses through 99 Hudson’s veins.
